Celtic PLC have released their interim financial results for the six months ending December 31, 2025, revealing a pre-tax profit of £13.2m. While the bank balance remains arguably the strongest in Scottish football, the figures tell a story of a turbulent half-season both in the boardroom and the dugout.
Revenue for the period sat at £59.4m—a significant 29% drop from the £83.5m recorded the previous year. The primary driver? A “bitter blow” in August as the Hoops crashed out of the Champions League play-offs to Kairat Almaty, forcing a move to the less lucrative Europa League.
Managerial Merry-Go-Round
Chairman Brian Wilson used the report to acknowledge the “disruption” that has defined the current campaign. Since the accounting period began, Celtic have seen three different management setups:
- Brendan Rodgers: Resigned in October.
- Wilfried Nancy: Sacked after just eight games and six defeats.
- Martin O’Neill: Returned for a second stint to steady the ship until summer.
Wilson admitted the appointment of Nancy “did not achieve our immediate objective” and stated that the board has acknowledged “mistakes have been made” in recent months following fan boycotts and protests over recruitment.
The £67m Question
Despite the lack of Champions League riches, Celtic’s “war chest” remains substantial. The club reported cash reserves of £67.4m. For many supporters, this figure is a point of contention, with recent protests at Celtic Park highlighting a perceived lack of investment in the playing squad during the Nancy era.
On the pitch, the focus is now on stability. Martin O’Neill has restored a winning feeling in early 2026, with the club sitting third in the Premiership—just a point off Rangers with a crucial game in hand.
🗣️ THE CELTIC VIEW: BANK BALANCE OR TROPHIES?
The numbers are healthy, but the fans want results. We want to hear from the Parkhead faithful:
- Does a £67m cash reserve justify the lack of first-team investment in January?
- Is Martin O’Neill the right man to lead the hunt for the title and a result against Stuttgart?
