Rangers face a fight to keep hold of manager Danny Rohl, with reports from Germany suggesting the Ibrox boss is a top target for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
The 37-year-old only arrived in Govan last October to rescue a disastrous start to the season. Since then, his impact has been undeniable, dragging Rangers back into a title race that looked dead on arrival. However, Monday’s defeat to Hearts has left the Gers seven points adrift with only three games remaining, and it seems clubs in his homeland have taken notice of his progress.
Bundesliga Interest Returns
Wolfsburg are currently navigating a relegation battle and planning a leadership shuffle. Veteran boss Dieter Hecking is expected to transition into a Director of Football role this summer, leaving a vacancy in the dugout. Rohl, who was previously linked with the Volkswagen-backed club during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, is reportedly top of the wanted list alongside St Pauli’s Alexander Blessin and Hertha Berlin’s Stefan Leitl.
A Record-Breaking Turnaround
While recent post-split losses to Motherwell and Hearts have stung, Rohl’s domestic record remains formidable. Since his appointment on October 20, 2025, he has actually outperformed his title rivals in terms of points collected:
- Danny Rohl (Rangers): P27 | W18 | D6 | L3 | 58 Pts
- Celtic: P27 | W18 | D2 | L7 | 56 Pts
- Hearts: P27 | W16 | D6 | L5 | 54 Pts
Rohl currently maintains a win rate of 56.76% across all competitions. While European results have been mixed, his league form helped Rangers amass more points than both Derek McInnes and Martin O’Neill over the same period.
Whether Rohl is given the chance to lead a full title charge next season or is tempted back to Germany remains to be seen, but the interest from the Bundesliga is sure to cause anxiety among the Ibrox faithful.
